Prince of Peace Lutheran School is a school of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS). In keeping with the purpose and philosophy of our school, all subjects are taught in the light of God's Word. Every child takes part in daily devotions, chapel services, evangelism, and other religious projects. Prince of Peace Lutheran School offers those subjects commonly taught at the kindergarten, elementary, and middle school levels with the addition of a religion curriculum prepared for LCMS elementary schools.
Children learn from repetition. Repeating the same message of Jesus' love for us each and every day (not just on Sunday) is very important in a child's life. Students of Prince of Peace read Bible stories and learn their lessons, participate every Wednesday morning in a Chapel service, and are encouraged to pray and talk about Jesus!
We will try to accommodate all students interested in attending Prince of Peace Lutheran School and each school year we will re-evaluate our situation to best meet everyone's needs; however, our underlying goal is to not exceed a maximum of 20 students per class.
As Thanksgiving approaches, the 2nd graders are reading about the early settlers of our country. The list of things we are thankful for is getting longer and longer. It includes families, friends, books, pets, Christian schools, the Ten Commandments, and the Bible to name a few.
We are having fun reading Marc Brown's Arthur books during the past few weeks. Soon we will each get to choose our favorite one! Terrific Tuesdays with the Kindergarten and First Graders have also been a lot of fun as we are exploring Minnesota this year. Topics include wetlands, history, wolves, loons, and plants.
You're invited to visit our room any day of the week for an up to date weather report. Each day our weather reporter tells us the predicted temperature, wind speed, and cloud conditions. We have also learned about the water cycle, meteorology, and storm conditions. Ask a Second Grader for the reason we have the current change from fall to winter temperatures.
We wish you all a blessed Thanksgiving!

Be strong in the Lord! We are strengthening our "faith muscles" each day by learning about His amazing creation and how He chose us to be His children! The creation theme carries over into science as we have been classifying all the animals God made for us to enjoy. In health class, a study of the heart and lungs again showed us the intricacies of God's creation. We rejoice in the fact that God loves and cares for us each and every day!
Our "math muscles" are being toned daily by addition and subtraction problems, adding three numbers, determining greater than, less than, and developing strategies for story problems.
Reading has been great fun. We have enjoyed the Henry and Mudge stories by Cynthia Rylant as well as the mouse tales told by Kevin Henkes. The second graders have learned how to choose "good fit" books for them by determining the purpose, interest, comprehension and word difficulty of the text. They are learning different ways to read a story and how to be excellent reading partners!
May you enjoy the beautiful fall days God has created for us with your families!
