Volunteer Opportunities

PARENT VOLUNTEER HOURS

One of the great strengths of our school is the involvement of you as parents in the lives of your own children and the time you take to give back to our school by way of volunteer time. When parents volunteer time to their school, it allows teachers to concentrate on planning and preparation and not have to concern themselves with fundraising, parties or other non-academic business. Next year, all parents will have the opportunity to contribute valuable time to the school on a greater basis. Our Board of Directors has agreed to increase the number of parent participation hours in the school from the current four per student to ten per student (maximum of 20 per family.) There will be a list coming out of possible ways these Parents in Participation (PIP) hours (formerly called "Volunteer Hours") can be fulfilled, and the reporting of the hours will be on an honor basis. Approved hours can be earned over the summer, but cannot be earned prior to the end of this school year for next year.

There are several volunteer opportunities for POP parents to get involved with their child's school, to keep tuition costs down, and to enrich our educational program by lending a helping hand. These include:

Counting Box Tops, food labels, and milk caps

Thank you to all of our volunteers who help at Prince of Peace. We are so blessed with incredible parents, grandparents, and church members who so generously give their time to help us. Thank you to everyone who so willingly helps out whenever asked! What a blessing to have such willing helpers!

We have many parents here at POP that do things without being asked. They just see a task that needs done and they do it! A special word of thanks to the helpers who…

  • Shovel snow off the sidewalks when it’s freezing so our students and parents have a clear path
  • Help in the Lunchroom when asked to fill in at the last minute
  • Helped create a new “Tutorial” Room so our students have a quiet, uninterrupted place to learn
  • Fix desks, chairs, bathrooms, sinks, etc. when asked
  • And on and on!
