PARENT VOLUNTEER HOURS for '08-'09

One of the great strengths of our school is the involvement of you as parents in the lives of your own children and the time you take to give back to our school by way of volunteer time. When parents volunteer time to their school, it allows teachers to concentrate on planning and preparation and not have to concern themselves with fundraising, parties or other non-academic business. Next year, all parents will have the opportunity to contribute valuable time to the school on a greater basis. Our Board of Directors has agreed to increase the number of parent participation hours in the school from the current four per student to ten per student (maximum of 20 per family.) There will be a list coming out of possible ways these Parents in Participation (PIP) hours (formerly called "Volunteer Hours") can be fulfilled, and the reporting of the hours will be on an honor basis. Approved hours for 2008 - 09 can be earned over the summer, but cannot be earned prior to the end of this school year for next year.

Speaking of volunteer hours...do you have your four hours per student completed for this 07-08 school year yet? Per our Parent/Student Handbook, parent hours not completed will be billed at the rate of $20 per hour. Time is dwindling to complete these hours and get them reported, so call the school office and ask Barb for a form to report them.

HELP IN POP LUNCHROOM FOR K-8 NEEDED FOR TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS to MONITOR GRADES K-8.

This is a great way for our K-8 parents to earn PIP (Volunteer) hours, and a fantastic way to get to know your child's friends and school environment.

Contact the POP Office, 251-1477, if you can help.

HELP NEEDED FOR TWO GYM PROJECTS

Are you looking for parent (PIP) hours? Two projects are needed to be done in our gym. The first involves someone who could run some wire in conduit from one side of the gym to the other to enable easier operation of our scoreboard. The second project involves the re-gluing of some plastic stripping onto the gym floor around the edges. See Mr. Wolter if interested in helping with either of these projects.

There are several volunteer opportunities for POP parents to get involved with their child's school, to keep tuition costs down, and to enrich our educational program by lending a helping hand. These include:

Hot Lunch Server
Lunchroom Monitor
Annual Hog Roast
Book Fair Assistant
Annual Hearts on Fire Dinner/Auction

Counting Box Tops, food labels, and milk caps
Spring Musical

Sporting Events/Coaching
Share a talent/hobby/occupation for Mini Course Day
Various Office Help

And More!

Please contact the office if you would like more information about any of these opportunities or if you are ready to volunteer.

THANK YOU!
