Greetings from Mrs. Friedrich’s Preschoolers!

The students in my classroom have been busy trying to discover and explore all of the wonderful gifts that winter has to offer. We have learned about several different winter activities and have had many opportunities to practice the correct sequence for getting dressed to play outside. In preschool, often times the preparations necessary to go outside take LONGER than our actual time outside! At this age, it is all about the process….think that’s why they say, patience is a virtue.

This week, we will be celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King and his aspirations for friendship and peace. The students will learn about some of the qualities and characteristics that comprise a good friend as well as journal about their hopes and dreams for the future.

Looking ahead, we will be focusing our attention on transportation, construction, and groundhogs. We will also be setting our sights on learning more about Jesus and his search for the 12 disciples. Like the 12 disciples, we know that Jesus calls upon us to follow him, show his love to others, and proclaim the good news of God as well. What an incredible blessing that Jesus extends this special invitation to be his disciple and friend to each and every one of us!

Happy New Year from Mrs. Froehle’s Preschool classes!

The preschoolers and I were ready to be back in school after a nice Christmas break. We have enjoyed our classroom theme of winter even though outside our “real” winter has been so unusual.

The preschoolers worked on a snowman craft, painted textured snowflakes, sang winter themed songs, played a cold weather wear game and explored huge ice cubes and salt water in the sensory table. Clearly, we did not waste any time getting back into our regular classroom routine.

Our Bible story was about “Simeon and Anna” that prompted talk of friendship, differences, and acceptance. Very appropriate topics as we look forward to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day later this month.

We also look forward to continued growth, learning, prayer, and opportunities in the remainder of our school year and 2012.

We are back to school and I hope everyone enjoyed a blessed Christmas break. We have certainly been blessed with beautiful weather. We will start back our year working on patterns, sequencing, rhyming words and series. This week we are talking about winter and al the winter games and activities that the season brings. Next week we will be talking about penguins and arctic animals. We will continue to work hard on our abc’s and 123’s. I wish everyone a fantastic 2012!

From our Holy Cross Campus:

HELLO FROM HOLY CROSS!

We had our Christmas program last week. The preschoolers did a wonderful job! It was amazing to share the story of the birth of our Savior with our family and friends. We also enjoyed a time of fellowship and treats after the program. It was a great night.

We have been busy learning about Christmas and the birth of Jesus. We decorated our small classroom Christmas tree; we have a wrapping station where the preschoolers can wrap pictures they have made for someone; we also had green mint water in the sensory table. The preschoolers have really enjoyed acting out the Christmas story with our Playmobile Nativity set. The M-W-F class also made Green Eggs and Ham for a snack. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and God Bless your New Year!

From our Preschool Director:

What a blessing the preschoolers were as they presented their programs this week! It was great to hear their praises to the baby Jesus and in thanks to God for sending His dear Son to earth. Jesus, the most wonderful gift each of us has ever received! Thanks to all the parents, family and friends for attending, the preschoolers for their humble and glorious praises, and to the Prince of Peace staff for all the weeks of dedication in preparation. The preschool staff of Prince of Peace Lutheran Preschool wishes to each POP family a very joyous and blessed Christmas and New Year. The last day of preschool for 2011 will be on Friday, December 16th and classes will resume on Monday, January 2nd.

From our Prince of Peace Campus:

Hello from Mrs. Hauck’s Preschool Room!

Preschoolers have been busy learning thankfulness. We filled our turkey with feathers of all the things and people we are thankful for. We learned about turkeys and did a few turkey dance moves in our classroom. We continue to practice our names and will make a name train this week as we learn about different ways of transportation. We will find out what is our favorite transportation vehicle. Maybe a fire truck, since we just had St. Cloud Fire Department visit to our preschool classroom. The fire fighters showed us their fire truck and all the equipment they use for their job. We even watched as they dressed up in their very important safety equipment. The next few weeks will be very busy as we prepare for the birth of baby Jesus. We will begin an Advent Countdown, and each day, receive a small gift relating to Christmas and a Bible story. We continue to learn words and actions to our songs for our preschool Christmas program, coming up Monday, December 5th. We can’t wait for our program and the birth of baby Jesus!

From our Trinity Campus:

Greetings from Mrs. Friedrich’s Preschoolers!

Our students have been busy learning about all of God’s wonderful blessings. We have discovered what it means to be thankful as well as the various ways that we can express our gratitude toward others. When the preschoolers were asked what they were thankful for, they responded with imagination and creativity! The following is a list of some of the things that they mentioned: family, ponies, eye balls, friends, boats, rocks, Jesus, shoes, popsicles, movies, toys, & rainbows.

Children this age truly are innocent and refreshing! What a magical and miraculous perspective they have on the world. Looking ahead, we have a short week of school due to Thanksgiving. However, after this brief break, we will be back in the classroom to focus our attention on the Spirit of Christmas. We will be setting our sights on the birth of our Savior and discussing how fortunate we are that God gave us Jesus, the greatest gift that anyone could imagine!

Greetings from Mrs. Froehle’s Preschool Classes

The month of November is moving right along. We have been busy learning about pumpkins and our five senses. Our pumpkin theme included pumpkin carving, life cycle discussion, the “5 little Pumpkins” rhyme, and many fun books. The five senses theme included mystery sounds and scents games, and a science experiment using all five senses to compare salt and sugar. This week we will begin work on Thanksgiving with discussions about different traditions, favorite foods, some history, and counting the many blessings God has bestowed upon us. The week is sure to include crafts, songs, books and stories. We have also been busy working on our Christmas songs and learning a different Bible story each week. This week we will be reading “Praise the Lord” and “God Hears Our Prayers” and looking forward to Mrs. Copeland leading Jesus Time on Thursday.

Wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving! ~Mrs. Froehle

From our Trintity Campus:

Happy November from Mrs. Gerchy’s preschoolers!

We have been very busy learning about fall and all the changes that the season brings. We enjoyed a beautiful field trip to St. John’s Arboretum. We walked through the woods looking for colors, walked on the very long bridge across the wetlands, and collected and sorted seeds and plants. We had a great day. We have learned all about pumpkins this past week. We discovered the inside of a pumpkin and talked about the pumpkin life cycle. We painted puffy pumpkins and did a pumpkin experiment. Does a pumpkin sink or float? Ask one of my preschool friends. We are learning about our five senses this week and have started to prepare for our Christmas concert. We will start counting our blessings as Thanksgiving approaches. We continue to work hard on letters and their sounds and writing our name. Hope you are all enjoying this beautiful fall weather.

    Blessings ~ Mrs. Gerchy

From our Prince of Peace Campus:

Hello from Mrs. Hauck’s preschool classes,

We are very busy in our Preschool. The last few weeks have gone by very fast. We are working hard learning the names of our new friends and also learning our own names, through writing, copying and name rubbings. Just like our names, we know we are special, different and unique because God created each and every one of us. We know God is with us everywhere we go and He watches over us and takes care of us. We know He was with us on our field trip to St. John’s Arboretum. We used 4 of our 5 senses on the prairie and forest. We had such a beautiful day looking for objects we could feel, hear, smell and see. We gave trees big preschool hugs and played a very fun game of owl and mouse. We are looking forward to our Halloween Parties, October 27 and 28. These next few weeks we will learn about signs of fall and use different senses with a fall favorite, pumpkins.

Blessings to all! ~ Mrs. Hauck

    From our Trinity Campus:

Greetings from Mrs. Froehle’s preschool classes,

Fall is my favorite time of year and a fantastic time to be in preschool. The weather and scenery is beautiful, the school year still feels fresh and new, friendships have been made and everyone is feeling more comfortable. October seems to be filled with many favorites including our themes of fall, fire safety and pumpkins. There are so many fun projects, activities, songs, colors, and discussions to incorporate with these themes. Our first Bible story this month is “Noah and the Flood” – a familiar favorite of past classes. We also have our first field trip of the school year to the St. John’s Arboretum. Bus rides are definitely another preschool favorite! We end the month with our annual pumpkin parties. This is a wonderful time to celebrate and enjoy time with friends and families in the classroom.

Happy fall from Mrs. Gerchy's preschoolers

We are off to a great start with our school year. We have studied the life cycle of the Monarch butterfly. We are blessed this year to watch three out of the four stages of the butterfly life cycle in our room. We watched a very hungry caterpillar grow fat from eating milkweed and change into a chrysalis. We then watched the beautiful green and gold chrysalis turn clear as the Monarch butterfly emerged. We successfuly released four Monarch butterflies this year and talked about the migration pattern they will follow. We were happy to let them head south to meet all their butterfly friends for a butterfly party. We have studied colors and shapes; have already been working hard on identifying rules and good choices. We are talking about apples this week. We tasted apples of red, yellow and green and each friend chose the one they like best. We cut out an apple and added a wiggly worm to it and will end the week stamping with apples. We continue to make great friends and have a great time!

        Blessings, Mrs. Gerchy

    From our Holy Cross Campus:

We are so excited to be back in preschool. We have been busy getting to know each other, our school and our routine. We started the year learning about the life cyle of the Monarch butterflies. We let our butterflies go last week so they could migrate to Mexico for the winter.

During “Jesus Time” we have been learning about creation and how God has blessed us with our wonderful world we live in. We also had a school tour and learned about our school rules. We have had a great start to preschool. We are looking forward to a year of learning, playing and growing in God’s Word.
